I’ve constantly been fascinated by alternative flooring components, and a single of my favorites is plywood. Yes… you heard correctly… plywood flooring. I’m not speaking about some fancy, gourmet, exotic selection of plywood that charges as considerably as mahogany. Just plain old, garden-assortment plywood utilised as a flooring surface. Don’t be put off by the look of plywood in its raw kind (as you see at the house improvement shop). Plywood can be transformed just like any other wood product can, so the quantity of choices is only restricted by your imagination.
Plywood has been a staple in building for eons, and is pretty usually applied as a sub-flooring for other, much more expensive supplies. But, plywood tends to make an ideal flooring material on its personal for quite a few reasons: it is cheap, readily readily available, tough, and pretty simple to function with. It can be painted, stained, or sealed just like any other wood. But, unlike planked wood flooring, since it comes in substantial sheets it can be cut to any size you opt for. The possibilities are literally endless!
Here are just a couple of suggestions for plywood flooring:
• Cut regular plywood sheets in half. Stain them a assortment of shades, such as light browns, dark browns, ash, deep reds, and even greens. Arrange them in an alternating, or “operating brick” pattern for a distinctive patchwork impact! (See example)
• Paint or stain them in a checkerboard pattern.
• Paint or stain them white, then sand them down for a “shabby chic” look
• Basically seal them with a gloss sealer for a clean, contemporary appear.
• Cut them into planks and set up them to appear like classic wood flooring. Stain ván ép favored wood colour to simulate a higher-end exotic wood floor.
• Reduce them in wide planks and stain them very, incredibly dark for a quite modern, urban appear.
Wonderful Plywood Flooring Instance:
In her blog “Read Involving Styles” from 2012, April James posted some good photos of a project she worked on for a studio working with plywood flooring. I really like the colors she chose, they genuinely suite the space, and the stairs turned out awesome!
